Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health has received a research grant involving opioid use

In a story last year (https://www.decorahnews.com/archived-stories/2017/04/16301.html), decorahnews.com detailed how opioid abuse in Northeast Iowa "is a small but growing problem."

Now comes word that there soon might be a good measurement of how big a problem oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone abuse is in the area.  Northeast Iowa Behavioral Health says it has received a grant to pay for a project to collect data about this type of drug use.

NEIBH shared the information with members of the Winneshiek County Board of Health earlier this week, stating that the grant would not be enough to begin funding treatment programs, but would at least give health officials in the area an idea of how big the problem has become.
