The City of Decorah will have around $900,000 in funding to pay for street improvement projects this year. Street Committee members have begun working on putting together a 2018 Decorah street project list.
The largest amount of money--around $350,000--has been earmarked for work to finish off the road construction on the south end of Short Street, near the Fairfield Inn. Another $86,000 has been earmarked for smaller road projects, such as repaving one block of Main Street, repairing 5th Avenue and paving a small part of Highland Drive. Repair work on Vernon Street to damage caused by stormwater runoff will continue this year, with $12,000 in street funds, but also some stormwater funds paying for the work.
Another $156,000 has been earmarked for alley projects, with $43,000 in additional funding earmarked for projects the Street Department itself will handle.
