In the wake of County Recorder Teresa Bockman's announcement that she will not seek re-election this fall, a new candidate has announced her intention to run for the office.
In a statement to local news media, Connie Askelson-Kuennen says, "My family roots are here in Winneshiek County. I grew up in Glenwood Township with my three brothers. My husband Tim and I, as well as our children, Alexis and Nolan, attended Decorah Community Schools. Winneshiek County is a great place to live.
I believe my many years of experience in sales, customer service, business development, and bookkeeping will provide me with a strong foundation to fill the roll of Winneshiek County Recorder.
It would be a great privilege to serve Winneshiek County as your Recorder. If elected, I look forward to working with the staff of the Recorder's Office and will continue to provide the services the women, men, and families of Winneshiek County deserve. I would give this office a set of fresh eyes and I welcome new ideas and accept the many challenges."
