Posted: Thu, Dec 21, 2017 3:28 PM

National Geographic 'Explorer' Erika Skogg will visit Decorah from Saturday, January 2nd through Tuesday, January 5th. She will be working on a photography project to visually preserve the Scandinavian culture within the upper Midwest.

She is looking for opportunities to capture visual similarities between Scandinavia and North America, with imagery which may include: lake-life and fishing culture, architecture of Stave Churches and summer cottages, traditional farming and cooking methods, folk lore artists practicing rosemaling, wood carving, and weaving, and winter culture of ice fishing and Christmas celebrations.

The final output of the project will be a collection of large format images and high resolution video clips to document and celebrate the unique attributes of the Scandinavian-American culture.
