Winneshiek County supervisors have filled a total of 18 openings on county-related boards and commissions--but there still are three vacancies that must be filled.
Two of those vacancies--a county representative to the Upper Explorerland board and one of the positions on the Winneshiek County Historical Preservation Commission board--might still be filled by the people whose terms have come up for renewal.
But there's another opening on an important county commission that hasn't had a volunteer yet. The county's Planning & Zoning Commission is a sometimes controversial commission because of the tough issues it has to handle. County supervisors are looking for someone to fill a vacant position on the nine-member board. Anyone who is interested can contact County Auditor Ben Steines, County Zoning Commissioner Tony Phillips or County Board Chair John Logsdon.
