The Dug Road portion of Trout Run Trail is eight feet wide. City and county officials have been discussing widening the trail to ten feet along Dug Road, but now they say such a project might have to wait until 2020.
At issue is FEMA funding for the current repairs being made to the trail. FEMA officials have told local officials that widening the trail to ten feet now -- a proposal which had been under consideration -- could change the percent of the federal reimbursement for the current project. As a result, widening the trail, while still a goal, might not happen for another two or three years--definitely after the current Dug Road project is finished.
