Crews have begun working on installing a new retaining wall on Court Street, between the Congregational/UCC Church and Miller Law Firm's offices.
The project is a little more complicated than first expected. The steep slopes and height of the wall triggered the need for more work to confirm soil types, which resulted in a deeper foundation for the wall. That led to an increase in the quantity and sizes of the block that was ordered, resulting in a $10,375 additional cost. Changes in fencing and guardrail lowered that cost by $1,598. The Decorah City Council has approved the net additional cost of $8,779.
