Decorah Band Department receives a donation from the Joey Headington Memorial Golf Outing

Joey Headington was a 2003 graduate of Decorah High School.  He died suddenly in 2012.  Following his death, the Joey Headington Memorial Golf Outing was started as a way for friends and family members to remember him and celebrate his life.

The money raised by this year's event—and last year's—has now been donated to the Decorah Community School District's band program. These funds will be used specially to help sponsor the Boston Brass Ensemble's appearance at Decorah High School next Tuesday.  Some money will also help purchase instruments for students with financial difficulties.

DHS band director Dustin Bliven noted, "their donation is offering instruments to 5th grade students and offering an amazing experience with the Boston Brass for our middle and high school students.  We are very grateful for their generosity."
