Over the summer a total of 150 letters were sent out to property owners in the City of Decorah which tell them they have until August 1st of next year to build or repair a sidewalk in front of their property. They have the right to appeal those letters, however.
Monday night members of the city's Planning & Zoning Commission continued to discuss revisions to the city's sidewalk policy--mostly on questions relating to those appeals.
Among the issues discussed were the criteria for granting a waiver to the sidewalk policy and whether to set a time limit for a verdict in an appeal case. Commission members took no action on the policy, however, and will discuss it again next month.
