When the Decorah Telecommunications Utility Board meets at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, it will have proposals from nine companies about how they would study the feasibility of a fiber optic network in Decorah.
City Administrator Chad Bird says he's pleased with the number of proposals received. "That's a lot," he told Decorah City Council members, noting that the proposals came not only from the Midwest, but from Colorado and Arizona as well.
It's now up to the five-member TUB to review the proposals and decide which company to hire. The board's timeline calls for bringing a recommendation to the Decorah City Council on April 3rd.
