Every December, John Cline students hold an event that gives students practice working with money--and results in donations to local non-profit groups selected by the students.
Students and community members donate household items for a holiday sale. Students bring in change to purchase items priced at 25 or 50 cents. Second graders take turns selling the items.
This year John Cline students raised $480 and decided to split the money as donations to both the First Lutheran Food Pantry and the Humane Society of Northeast Iowa.
