The NICC Board of Trustees has approved an estimated budget calling for $68.8 million dollars in spending in the next fiscal year.
Their vote came after a discussion of the impact of state aid on their budget. Iowa Governor Terry Branstad's recent budget resulted in a $431,704 mid-year reduction in state aid to NICC.
As a result, the estimated NICC budget for 2017-2018 calls for an increase of $4.50 to both tuition and fees, a tax rate of $1.0993 per $1,000 of taxable assessed valuation and an increase of 3 percent in Business and Community Solutions revenue.
A public budget hearing has been scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 20th in the NICC Calmar campus boardroom. After the hearing the trustees will set the maximum expenditure limits and tax levy rate for Fiscal Year 2018.
