The South Winneshiek High School Ag Department and FFA program has received a $10,000 grant from Monsanto through the company's "America's Farmers Grow Rural Education" program.
The money will be used to enhance the agriculture and science departments at South Winneshiek.
A panel of math and science teachers from other counties reviewed the application. An advisory council composed of farmer-leaders with an interest in agriculture and education then made the final awards.
Local farmers were also able to weigh in with their support for the application.
