NICC President Dr. Liang Chee Wee has been presented with the Immigrant Entrepreneurs Leadership Award.

The award honors a first generation immigrant who has demonstrated leadership and an entrepreneurial spirit in his/her professional and family life and on behalf of the immigrant and larger community.

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad presented Wee with the award during the Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit, held earlier this month at the Des Moines Area Community College Ankeny Campus.

"To be recognized at the summit by Governor Branstad and the Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit Board was a truly humbling experience and a cherished honor," said Dr. Wee of the honor.  He arrived in America on July 4th, 1983, and noted, "America continues to be a symbol of hope, compassion, freedom and opportunity for the world. I am very thankful that I have the opportunities to re-pay those who helped me by serving others in my personal and professional life."
