Winneshiek Medical Center has earned accreditation from The Joint Commission, a sign that WMC meets national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals.
The accreditation covers physician services by Mayo Clinic Health System, including the clinic in Decorah and satellite clinics in Ossian and Mabel, Home Health, Hospice and Durable Medical Equipment.
A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors visited Winneshiek Medical Center and evaluated it for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management. The Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and patients.
Said Winneshiek Medical Center Chief Administrative Officer Lisa Radtke, "Joint Commission accreditation provides us a framework for meeting rigorous standards in creating a culture of quality, safety and excellent patient care. Achieving Joint Commission accreditation, for our organization, is affirmation of the work our team of staff does on a daily basis to maintain excellence and continually improve the care we provide."
