The City of Decorah's leaf pickup program is being concentrated on the Luther College neighborhood this week.
Leaf crews are working in Ward 5 the rest of this week. Have your leaves raked into the curb by the first days to make sure they get picked up. Rake leaves in a pile in the street along the curb area in front of your house. Rake only leaves into piles--the city's leaf vacuum cannot pick up sticks, brush, garden refuse and other types of yard waste. Rake leaves into windrow piles so crews don't have to handle multiple small leaf piles. Parked cars hamper leaf pickup, so please avoid parking near leaf piles on scheduled pickup days.
City crews will be picking up leaves in Ward 3 next Monday through Friday.
For residents of other city wards, leaves can be dropped off in the shed at the Street Department offices at 108 Railroad Avenue. There are also extended hours at the city compost site on Trout Run Road--8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. weekdays, with extended hours until 7:00 p.m. Wednesdays and 8:00 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.
