The body of Decorah Eagle D-25 has been sent to the National Wildlife Health Center in Madison, Wisconsin, to confirm the cause of its death.
The Raptor Resource Project last month confirmed that D-25 was found along the road between Maynard and Westgate. They believe he was scavenging for a raccoon carcass.
Raptor Resource Project officials believe a motorist hit the young bald eagle. They say anyone who hits a bald eagle accidentally most likely won't face any criminal charges and should contact local police or a county conservation officer as soon as possible.
