Low-interest federal disaster loans are available to Iowa businesses and residents affected by the severe weather and flash flooding that occurred August 23rd and 24th.
SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster in response to a request SBA received from Iowa Governor Terry Branstad on September 1st.
The disaster declaration makes SBA assistance available in Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties in Iowa; and Fillmore and Houston counties in Minnesota.
"Low-interest federal disaster loans are available to businesses of all sizes, most private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters whose property was damaged or destroyed by this disaster," said SBA's Iowa District Director, Jayne Armstrong.
Beginning Thursday, SBA representatives will be on hand in Decorah and in Spillville to answer questions about SBA's disaster loan program, explain the application process and help each individual complete their application.
No appointment is necessary.
