Iowa Department of Transportation opens bids on two Winneshiek County bridge projects

Two projects to replace bridges in Winneshiek County have drawn the interest of a number of construction companies.   The Iowa Department of Transportation opened bids on the projects Tuesday in Ames.

Bridge #73 is on Trout Run Road just south of Decorah.  K Construction of Elkader was the apparent low bidder on the replacement project, with a bid of $279,506.25.  Brennan Construction of Lansing submitted a bid of $292,995.10; Gus Construction submitted a bid of $338,634.45 and Iowa Bridge & Culvert submitted a bid  of $408,761.66.

Bridge #374 is in Highland Township on 380th Street.  Brennan Construction was the apparent low bidder on that bridge replacement project, with a bid of $90,273.50.  K Construction submitted a bid of $103,082.66; Iowa Bridge & Culvert submitted a bid of $144,825.37; and Gus Construction submitted a bid of $173,429.30.

The IDOT now will review the bids to make sure they are acceptable.  The contracts then will be sent to Winneshiek County for county board approval.
