Commencement exercises at Decorah High School were inside on Sunday afternoon--but they just as well could have been outside, with perfect weather marking the day.
The program started at 2:00 p.m. with the playing of the traditional "Pomp and Circumstance." Principal Kim Sheppard announced awards given to the students, including the valedictorian and salutatorian awards. Autumn Delong, Brianna Doyle, Ashlynn Franzen, Andrew Larson, Katelyn Pereze, Andrew Sullivan and Katelyn Yee were recognized as Valedictorians. The 2016 Salutatorian is Timothy Meyer.
Ashley Gulrud and Garret Baumler were student speakers, while Superintendent Mike Haluska introduced guests.
