KVIK Radio and the American Legion Riders Post 135 have raised at least $5,000 for the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department's K9 Program.
The new canine officer, "McCoy," was purchased in November thanks to a donation by Waterloo resident Betty McCoy. However, ongoing funds are needed to maintain and train McCoy and to cover future expenses.
KVIK hosted a live radio fundraiser Thursday. Donations are still being accepted at the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office. If anyone wishes to make a donation, checks can be made out to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office and note K9 fund in the memo.
