Winneshiek Medical Center and Mayo Clinic Health System have announced three new leadership appointments.

The new structure adds medical directors for specialty care, primary care and emergency services to a leadership that already includes WMC operations administrator Dave Rooney, WMC Chief Nursing Officer Sue Heitman and WMC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Flinchbaugh.

Dr. Thomas Marquardt will become the new Specialty Care Medical Director, while Dr. Randall Bremer will become the Primary Care Medical Director--two new positions.  Dr. Tedd Gentry will become Emergency Services Chair, replacing Dr. Kent Svestka, who had been serving in a similar position, but is stepping down.  Also stepping down is Dr. Kevin Locke, who had been serving as interim Medical Director for Decorah Clinic and other WMC clinics.

Dr. Marquardt joined Winneshiek Medical Center in 2006 from a hospital in the Milwaukee area.  He has headed the hospital's professional development committee since 2009.

Dr. Bremmer joined WMC in 2013 after 24 years at Covenant Clinic in Cedar Falls.  He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Gentry came to Winneshiek Medical Center in 2011 after serving several years in Manchester.  He is a physician in the hospital's Emergency Department.

WMC officials stress that the doctors who have been appointed will work with existing leadership.  They also thanked Dr. Locke and Dr. Svestka for their service.
