Decorah Public LIbrary group will read the latest All-Iowa Reads selection

Posted: Wed, Feb 24, 2016 2:20 PM

A Decorah Public Library group will gather in March to discuss the 2016 All Iowa Reads book selection, "Lila."

Established in 2003, the All Iowa Reads program encourages Iowans statewide to come together in their communities to read and talk about the same book in the same year. Libraries, book clubs, schools and other local organizations are encouraged to sponsor book discussions.

The Decorah Library's discussion of "Lila" will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 18th.  Limited copies of the book are available for checkout at Decorah Public Library; local booksellers also have copies available for purchase.

The book is the latest novel by Marilynne Robinson, the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "Gilead" and "Housekeeping." The new book follows Lila, who is homeless and alone after years of roaming the countryside until she steps inside a small-town Iowa church for shelter and eventually becomes the wife of the church's minister, John Ames, beginning a new existence while trying to make sense of the life that preceded her newfound security.
