"A film about Decorah by Decorah" to debut at Oneota Film Festival

Posted: Mon, Feb 22, 2016 7:27 PM

Decorah will shine on the big screen when the crowd-sourced documentary "Driftless: A Film by Decorah, for Decorah" premieres at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 4th, at the Hotel Winneshiek as part of the 2016 Oneota Film Festival.

Filmmaker Jonathan Rattner will deliver the opening keynote during the free event, which will also feature a dessert bar and a cash bar. Donations will be accepted.

"Our aim was to make a film about Decorah by members of the Decorah community," says Rattner, editor of "Driftless" and assistant professor of cinema and media arts and art at Vanderbilt University. The project involved compiling and editing short videos shot by community members on smartphones.

The March 4th showing of "Driftless" will be the only time the film will be shown at the film festival.
