Jury selection got underway shortly before 10:00 a.m. Monday in Decorah in the first degree murder trail of Alexander Fazzino of Boone.
Fazzino faces life in prison if he is convicted of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Emily, whose body was found in the bathtub of the family's home in Boone in January of 2012. Fazzino was arrested on the first degree murder charges in April of 2013.
A large crowd of potential jurors was seated in the third floor courtroom at the Winneshiek County Courthouse. After the jury is selected, the trial itself could last as long as three weeks.
Security will be tight on the third floor of the Winneshiek County Courthouse. Sheriff's Deputies from Boone County and Winneshiek County will be on hand during the trial. A metal detector is set up to screen people entering the courtroom.
