The NICC Board of Trustees has approved the initial steps necessary to begin extensive renovations and upgrades to the John Deere Ag Tech Building at the Calmar campus.

The renovations to the building are estimated to cost around $1.2 million.  Upgrades this year will include classroom and lab area remodeling, a redesign of a computer lab classroom, renovations to the building's entrance, electrical updates and other critical improvements to the facility's exterior, HVAC system and roof.  NICC anticipates the project will begin in April and conclude in October. State of Iowa Accelerated Careers in Education (ACE) funding will support the construction project.

"Our College has developed a strong relationship with John Deere for more than 25 years, and these renovations allow us to make necessary upgrades to the facility to meet future teaching and learning needs," explained NICC President Dr. Liang Chee Wee.  He noted that the ag building was originally built in 1981 and that this project will be the first major renovation of the facility.

The College will hold a public hearing on Monday, February  29th held in the NICC Calmar campus boardroom for the approval of plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of costs for the renovation project.
