Turnout in Winneshiek County for Monday night's Democratic Party Caucuses was near the record turnout set by Barack Obama's campaign against Hillary Clinton in 2008. Turnout was especially strong in the city of Decorah, with a number of young, first-time caucus goers.
A total of 1,685 people attended the Democratic caucuses. Vermont U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders was the overall winner, taking away 70 delegates to Hillary Clinton's 55 delegates.
