Decorah Street Superintendent Kevin Nelson says he estimates leaf collection cost the city just under $50,000 last fall.
Nelson presented a report to the Decorah City Council Monday night showing that city-owned equipment was operated for 646 1/2 hours on leaf clean-up, requiring over 1,000 gallons of gas. He estimated costs totaled $49,568.
City council members will use the report in determining policies for next fall.
