


Worried about the precedent it would set, the Winneshiek County Board has turned down a request for $5,000 in funding for the South Winneshiek recreation program.
Supervisors said they were worried that approving the South Winn request would lead to other similar requests throughout the county. They also said they could not ask for a property owner in Hesper, for instance, to pay for a program in South Winneshiek.
