In past years, it's been difficult to get 93 percent of Decorah residents to agree on anything--especially questions involving the future of the community.
But during 2015 in Decorah, a group of community residents gathered together to push for improved Internet service in town. Their first step was to collect enough signatures on a petition to get the issue on the ballot in November.
Once that happened, it was up to the voters to determine the fate of a proposal to give the City of Decorah the power to establish a municipal communications utility board. On November 3rd, they gave their answer--93 percent of those voting said "yes."
The results mean that "Decorah Fast Fiber" and city representatives can continue their work on exploring a communications utility.
