Winneshiek County supervisors on Monday continued to work on a list of bridges needing replacement.
County Engineer Lee Bjerke told the county board that in addition to the 23 bridges listed as requiring another inspection in 48 months; 27 bridges needing inspection in 24 months; and 21 bridges as being in "critical" condition, needing inspection in another 12 months, 12 bridges in Winneshiek County have now been placed on a list as needing replacement.
Many of those bridges are on very low-traffic roads that receive fewer than 25 vehicles a day. But county supervisors told Bjerke on Monday that they want a list of those 12 bridges. They also scheduled a road and bridge tour for next MOnday, following their regular weekly meeting.
