A market study has been done of the Decorah area--and the results show a big unmet demand for hotel rooms.
Rebound Hospitality owns the Hotel Winneshiek and is proposing building a new Fairfield Inn and Suites that would have around 80 rooms. Rebound Managing Principal Brett Reese says the study his company commissioned showed a demand for at least 80 new hotel rooms--and possibly up to 120 rooms.
The market study also looked at locations for the additional hotel rooms--and concluded the site of the former Bluffs Inn was the top location for a new hotel.
Reese says his company wants to build more hotel rooms in Decorah as a way to help the Hotel Winneshiek, which it also owns. The Hotel Winneshiek has plenty of space for meetings and conventions--but only has 34 hotel rooms. Reese says having 80 additional rooms in Decorah would help the Hotel Winneshiek--not hurt it.
