The Northeast Iowa Drug Task Force says Saturday's prescription drug drop off day brought in quite a few old medications.
The Drug Task Force had 20 different drop off sites throughout Northeast Iowa. 686 pounds of prescriptions were dropped off on Saturday.
A news release from the Task Force notes that the agency has seized over 254 dose units of illegally used prescriptions this year. "Presciption drug abuse is a growing epidemic in America; it is one of the fastest-growing threats to our youth today," the news release notes.
