


Decorah Police were called to a car-deer accident on Highway 9 Tuesday afternoon. 47-year-old Matthew Haywood of Decorah was traveling east on Highway 9 near Blue Grass Drive when a deer jumped in front of the car. The accident caused $5,000 in damages. Haywood complained of injuries, but declined medical treatment.
Police were also called to Highway 9 Monday afternoon. Monona resident Shari Wiebensohn told police she and three vehicles ahead of her slowed down to around 30 miles an hour when a deer began crossing the highway. Wiebensohn looked in her rear view mirror and noticed a car driven by Galina Sagaydak was fast approaching. Sagaydak crashed into Wiebensohn's car, causing a total of $8,000 in damages.
Sagaydak was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control and for having no insurance coverage.
