There were no records set in Decorah in August for high or low temperatures. Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says temperatures averaged 70.3 degrees, which was 0.8 degrees cooler than average.
Temperatures ranged from a high of 91 degree on August 14th to a low of 45 degrees on August 26th. 17 out of the 31 days in August had a high temperature that was less than average.
August was also dry, according to Bernatz. The first half of the month had only two days with measurable precipitation, with most of the 2.38 inches of rain that fell during August coming at the end of the month. May and June were wet months in Decorah, but the dry weather in July and August and over the winter means precipitation is at 0.39 inches less than normal for the past 12 months.
