Decorah Police respond to two calls and one traffic accident

Decorah Police were called to an apartment on East Main Street early Saturday morning.  When officers arrived at 304 East Main Street, Apartment #2, George Martinez of Houston, Texas, jumped out of a second story window and fled.  Eventually caught, Martinez was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Mischief and Interference with Official Acts.

On Tuesday police were called to the Fareway grocery store to investigate a shoplifting complaint.  28-year-old Irene Jones of Calmar was arrested for shoplifting after police allegedly found merchandise concealed in her clothing.

Also Tuesday, police responded to a two-vehicle rear end accident on Montgomery Street.  Police say 46-year-old Eric Stahr of Decorah ran into the rear of a van driven by 55-year-old Mary Sender of Ossian, causing a total of $16,000 in damages.  Stahr was ticketed for Failure to Stop in a Clear Distance.  Neither driver was injured.
