The City of Decorah's health insurance policy has been a contentious issue before the Decorah City Council in recent months.
Monday night Midwest Group Benefits representative Brian Huinker appeared before the city council to request that his company be given a chance to compete for the city's business.
Huinker told city council members there were several "low-hanging fruit" that could be taken care of in order to save money for the city. For instance, he says, his company would have charged $10,000 less in fees to the city.
After Huinker completed his presentation the question was referred to the city's Budget and Finance Committee for study and recommendation.
