Mildred Lyons of Ossian to be inducted into Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame

90-year-old Mildred Lyons of Ossian will be inducted into the 2015 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair on Sunday, August 23rd.

She will be one of 126 inductees honored for their outstanding service and dedication to 4-H.  Mildred will be recognized in a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. August 23rd, with a reception to follow.

Mildred Lyons served 22 years as a 4-H leader in five different counties. She has led "Team Lyons" by cheering on her family at the county fair every year for at least 61 years. Mildred had 11 children and multiple grandchildren involved in 4-H and remains a strong supporter of the Winneshiek County Fair.

Previous Winneshiek County inductees into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame are Norbert Lovstuen, Ann Moen, Steven & Donella Darrington, Bonnie Sorum, LeRoy McClintock, Brenda Ranum, Madelyn "Maddy" Wise,  Vernon Spilde, David L. Huinker, Arlin Hanson, Edna Schrandt, Andrew Bakke and Mary Leuenberger.
