(The Decorah Swimming Pool has been the topic of several recent decorahnews.com letters and news stories. Here are a couple of updates):
--Justin e-mailed to ask the number of pool users per season over the last few years and the trend for usage. Not surprisingly, weather has a big impact on pool attendance--especially the weather in June, right after school gets out. So hot summers see higher attendance than cool and wet summers--no surprise there.
Overall, pool attendance has varied from 33,000 to 24,000 over the last five years. We will post a news story in September or October when the Park-Rec Department releases totals for 2015.
--Following several Letters to the Editor about the cost of admission to the Decorah Swimming Pool ($4.50 for a daily admission), David asked what other area swimming pools charge for entry. A survey of ten other swimming pools shows their average day charge is $4.30
