Members of the Decorah Park-Rec Board have approved a proposal to add a swingset to Mary Christopher Park.
The addition may be the first step in a renewed focus on attracting Decorah residents to the park. The Park-Rec Department is also planning on removing the shuffleboard court and horseshoe pits at the park; adding shrubs on the border of the park; and planting some new trees.
A neighbor of the park has donated money to the Parks & Rec Department in the hopes of reinvigorating the park. Park-Rec Board members have agreed to spend some Park-Rec funds on the project as well.
Future plans could improve either a new roof on the park shelter or an entirely new shelter, as well as possibly more playground equipment.
