The North Winneshiek Board of Education has approved a budget for the next school year.
The budget sets property taxes for school purposes at $14.67 per $1,000 of assessed valuation--the same as this year. School property taxes in Iowa this year ranged from $7.48 to $23.05 per $1,000 of assessed valuation.
The North Winneshiek School District's valuation increased from $131,570,669 last year to $137,234,804 this year, which reflects a 5 percent increase in the overall property values in the district. Because of that increase in valuation, the total property tax levy will generate $2,060,133 for the school district.
Due to declining enrollment, the North Winn school district has qualified for the 101 percent budget guarantee.
