Decorah Lions Club members have gotten a chance to learn more about the Pine Bluff 4-H Camp from camp board members Ruth Kuhn and Halley Wise.

Pinebluff Camp is located about 8 miles northeast of Decorah on River Road on the banks of the Upper Iowa River.

Kuhn and Wise told Lions Club members there are 115 acres of forest and wildlife habitat with 2.5 miles of walking trails accessible by a swinging bridge across the river, playground and ball fields and water activities such as canoeing, tubing and fishing.  Camp facilities include an open air lodge with kitchen facilities, with hot and cold running water and picnic tables and a large fireplace. There are 4 cabins with 10 beds each and bathroom facilities with warm showers.  The camp is filled with 4-H campers during the month of June but is available from mid-April through October for groups, family reunions and celebrations, weddings and private parties. It has been particularly attractive to families looking for quality time to reconnect since cell phone coverage is sketchy.

Pinebluff is a non-profit, funded by rental fees, donations and through United Way and is owned and operated by Winneshiek County 4-H Foundation in cooperation with ISU Extension and Outreach, Winneshiek County. Reservations are handled by ISU Extension and Outreach Service at 563.382.2949.
