A public hearing has been scheduled for the first meeting in March of the Decorah City Council.
Council members will hear comments at 5:45 p.m. Monday, March 2nd on a proposed budget of $15 million. Because of spending on the Highway 9 utility project, overall city spending will increase by a proposed $1.25 million.
The budget calls for a property tax rate of $13.79 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, the same rate as this year. $1.30 per thousand dollars of that amount will pay for the bonds that are financing the Highway 9 utility project and the purchase of the new fire truck.
