Three teenagers were injured Saturday night when the truck in which they were riding went out of control due to icy roads.
17-year-old Mike Krahenbuhl of Cresco was driving a truck owned by Austin Ollendieck of Ridgeway on Pole Line Road just before 10:00 p.m. Krahenbuhl slowed down due to foggy and icy road conditions, but still lost control of the truck. The truck slid into a ditch and rolled over.
Everyone inside the truck was able to get out of the truck through a broekn window. Nearby residents heard the crash and went to the scene to administer first aid.
The Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance took Ollendieck and a passenger in the car, 15-year-old Lexi Rustad, to Howard County Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Krahenbuhl was taken to Howard County Hospital by his parents for treatment of minor injuries. Another passenger in the truck, 18-year-old Kyle Dawley of Cresco, was not injured.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department says all of the occupants of the truck were using seat belts--otherwise their injuries could have been far worse.
