A $2,000 grant from The Depot Outlet has allowed Winneshiek Medical Center to buy a new infant simulator.
The mannequin gives health care professionals a chance to learn life saving techniques for infants. The infant simulator will be used in the Pediatric Advanced Life Support course, which teaches emergency response skills, and in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program, which teaches how to resuscitate newborns. Winneshiek Medical Center offers four NRP classes and six PALS classes each year; trainings that are open to all health care professionals in the region.
Last year, health care providers at Winneshiek Medical Center from Mayo Clinic Health System and Gundersen Health System delivered 234 babies.
