Needed improvements at the Decorah Swimming Pool might be phased in over several years.
But members of the Decorah Parks & Recreation Board have prioritized installing a new slide at the pool. Parks & Recreation Department Director Any Nimrod says work on installing a new slide could begin as soon as next September.
A new slide would cost an estimated $250,000. Decorah Parks and Recreation Board members have set aside $115,000 from previous park-rec budgets as a reserve fund and have been continuing fundraising for the new slide.
Park-Rec officials say several other repairs are needed at the swimming pool, including replacing the boiler, updating the mechanical system, fixing leaks in the roof and fixing foundation issues.
