The Pride of the Vikings Marching Band recorded its 13th consecutive Division I rating at the Iowa High School Music Association's Marching Contest in Dubuque over the weekend.
Bands are judged in Music Execution, Music General Effect, Marching and Maneuvering General Effect, Marching Maneuvering Execution, Color Guard, and Percussion. The Pride of the Vikings Marching Band received division I rating of Superior in all areas of this contest.
DHS Band Director Dustin Bliven stated, "Our marching band saved the best for our last show. They were focused and determined to give the best performance possible, and they have worked so hard to finish strong. They really performed the show the Decorah Way. It has been a big transition for these students to adjust to two new directors, but they worked hard and have been helpful to the entire staff. This has been a wonderful start to the school year with a excellent group of students and staff."
