The Winneshiek County Board has signed a proclamation declaring October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The resolution recognizes the work of the Winneshiek County Celebration of Life, which has raised enough money in 16 years to pay for almost 1,000 free mammograms for women in the area.  The group has also started giving $200 gasoline cards to women who are traveling to La Crosse or Rochester for any type of cancer treatment.

Winneshiek County Celebration of Life is holding its annual fundraiser on Friday, October 17th, on the top floor of T-Bock's.
