New program to help families struggling with food insecurity

Beginning September 1st, Winneshiek County families struggling with food insecurity will find some relief with an expanded "Ham Sandwiches for Kids™" program, made possible by the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms.
 
The program will provide $5 coupons, four times a year, for sliced or shaved ham to families with children participating in the Northeast Iowa Food Bank's BackPack Program™.

The program will provide $76,000 in value to famlies in Northeast Iowa.  Another $90,000 in Ham Sandwich coupons will be given out in Central Iowa. In 2014 alone, the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation will donate more than $360,000 to help relieve hunger in Iowa.
