Someone named "Haluska" will lead St. Benedict's School starting this fall.
No, it won't be Decorah School Superintendent Mike Haluska, but his brother, Steve.
Mike Haluska on Tuesday confirmed that his brother has been offered the top job at St. Benedict's and has accepted it.
Steve Haluska is coming to Decorah from Carroll, where he spent 19 years working for the school district. Steve was a driver's education teacher, then became principal of Carroll High School in 1998. He also coached girls and boys cross country, junior-varsity basketball and middle school track teams. Carroll High School was named a Blue Ribbon School in 2012 when Halsuka was principal.
Haluska resigned his principal position two weeks into the start of the 2013-2014 school year. He did not give a public reason for his resignation, but school district officials said it was his decision, not theirs.
Steve Haluska will replace Dana Holkesvik as St. Benedict's School Principal.
